MOMENTS OF JOY...
I normally
used to take a rickshaw to and fro from Parle station to my work place, and it
was here that I
met this small boy begging at the signals. He would very regularly come to beg with some convincing
ready dialogue which really touched my heart and very automatically I would search my pockets for
giving him something. I normally never favour giving cash to any children but now it was so evident
that I had to give him some money so that he could suffice his hunger. This went on for few weeks,
than I made it a point to take a surplus tiffin box for that small boy at the signal. I did so because
I liked his righteousness and sincerity. But to my surprise this small boy relented my spontaneous
act of giving him the tiffin box and very involuntary complained that "Madam aapko rupaya nahi
dena hai to mat dijiye , par hamre insult mat kijiya."I was shocked to hear him talk with me so rudely.
But at that time only the signal flashed and I had to disperse. I could not explain anything to him.
The whole day during the lectures I just pondered as to how could I change this small boy.

Next day as
usual I again met this small boy at the signal. This time I decided to change
the tiffin, I offered
him a Dairy Milk chocolate. But now too he was not happy and gestured me for money. Stubborn as
I was I decided not to give any cash to the small boy, I decided not to give up and on the third day I
planned to talk with him and asked him why did he need money? And finally he told that he needed
the money to pay the school fees as soon as possible. I was overwhelmed to know that he valued
education so much. Now I really wanted to give him some money but of course not to him. Next day
he was at the signal with his mom. And his mom confirmed that the boy really needed money for
his studies. The school was ready to pay half of his fees but what about the rest? So the school
authorities had decided to give him a leaving certificate. I really felt bad I just gave her a hundred
rupees note and asked her what is his annual school fees and she told “around twenty five thousand
per year.”

I very
quickly texted in my WhatsApp groups that we have to fund for this child’s
education and
if each one of us could contribute one thousand rupees we could collect around thirty thousand rupees.
Mostly everyone was okay with the idea of educating the child. So finally I with some of my friends
went to the school and handed over the amount to the principal.

I had learnt
the simple pleasures of life from him. Whereas he had a different version of
looking at life.
He began to study well and this his mother felt was all because of me. Many strangers always do
amazing things and brings happiness in our lives. So we should keep on doing good actions...
